Isis Saratial Misdary (Director) was a Directing Associate at the Lark Play Development Center, where she directed work by Sa•d Sayrafiezadeh, Enrique Urueta, Maksim Kurochkin (Ukraine), and Nathalie Handal, and served as Artistic Producer of the Lark's Middle Eastern Diaspora Festival. In New York, Isis served as a two-year Van Lier Directing Fellow at Second Stage Theatre, where she directed work by Betty Shamieh, Yasmine Rana, and Silvia Gonzales S., and assisted directors Evan Yionoulis and Graciela Daniele. Studying indigenous Egyptian puppetry as a Fulbright grantee in 2004, she co-founded WAMDA Group, effectively reviving the art from near extinction. Isis received the prestigious NEA/TCG Career Development Program for Directors Grant, and subsequently worked with The Builders Association in New York, La Fura Del Baus in Barcelona, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis, and Berkeley Repertory. Last year, Isis directed the North American premiere of Naomi Wallace's A State of Innocence. |
